Gee has been working throughout the winter with combined 3rd and 4th team practices to assess individuals and develop the strongest partnerships.  The two squads will shortly be identified.  The second team emerges from the winter with the core players from last summer.  Practices are beginning and additional players will be included.  Competition for these places will be a natural progression.  Fifth team practices are now under way and include a number of student members.

All the work has been very effective, however, final team places for the lower teams depends entirely on what happens to our first team.  Lucy has been organising practices and hopes soon to have confirmation of her players’ availability.  We shall then be in a position to identify other team squads If needed, we shall be able to call upon girls at university or doing higher school exams, when they are available, rather than having to rely upon them as in previous years. 

It is a Rule of the League that clubs with multiple teams have to nominate five players in their first and second teams.  This is to prevent abuse of top team players playing occasional matches for a much lower team.  As we have our first two teams in the same division, it is a requirement that we name six members of the 1st team and five of the second team.  None of these named players can play down for any team.  However, members of the second team, named or not, may play up once in the usual way and still return to the second team.  We also have two teams in division three.  We do not have to name anyone in either team and players may move between the teams were they in different divisions and in the usual way.

A meeting will be arranged soon for Gee to confirm with captains final placings.
