Pinner West End Lawn Tennis Club

Junior Tournaments

There are number of options for competitive tennis for juniors. The club runs internal tournaments and box leagues and teams take part in Middlesex LTA tournaments. In addition some of the more keen players take part in Tennis Jeanie tournaments. The club relies on the good support of parents to take their children to matches and to make any arrangement and our Junior Secretary is always willing to assist.

Junior Championship

Every year the season ends with a special Junior Finals Day which is held mid-summer at the club and is well attended by parents and members of the club.  We compete both in girls' and boys' singles and doubles across all age groups.

Before the main tournament the children have a chance to practice their matchplay by participating in box leagues where they are matched with children of similar ability.

The Head Coach uses the opportunity on Finals Day to award children for their effort throughout the autumn/winter/spring. We celebrate great sportmanship, the most improved player or players and present the Bailie Shield.

The Bailie Shield is awarded to celebrate the greatest improvement throughout the year and to those that have really made an effort to improve their tennis.  It can be awarded to an individual, siblings or like in one case to a whole family.

Middlesex League

WELTC has several Junior Squads that compete against other clubs in the Middlesex League. The matches are in the spring and can be both home or away. We always encourage parents to take an active role and help out.  Please click here to see the results from last season.

The Junior Squads are parent run and across several age group , please see here information for the current season.

LTA resources

There are so many ways to play tennis! The LTA website offers wealth of information and access to tournaments near us as well as player search, you can find yourself and see the rating of the players you are up against in the next tournament.

A great way to get in touch with local players is through the Tennis Jeannie. This is an easy to use box leage which is run by the LTA where players are matched based on their ratings. In short, you sign up, get allocated to a box league, you enter your availability, look at other players' availability, send out an invite and you are on your way to a match before you know it. Easy peasy.

The club is happy for you to play the matches at the club. Remember to put a pound in an envelope for a visitors' fee and make sure you schedule the match at a time when there are normally courts available, so not during weekend social for example. Then GO FOR IT......
