Pinner West End Lawn Tennis Club

                  Some memories of Sheila Cloot
Sheila ClootAn Honorary Member of West End LTC

Sheila, a member of WELTC, died in July 2018 after a short illness.

Sheila, and her husband Peter, had lived in Pinner since the 1960’s.  Sheila had many hobbies including gardening, flower arranging, cooking and painting watercolours. Margaret Hill, a former member, remembers receiving beautiful hand-painted cards at Christmas time and Sheila created beautiful table decorations for Club social events.

Tennis was a great passion and Sheila was a member of the Club for over 50 years playing regularly during the week and at weekends too. Sheila played in the teams for West End.  When I joined the team, Sheila and her partner Doreen Pomroy were a very steady and successful 1st pair and generous with their help and advice to the newest member of the team. Jean Wright remembers the matches with long baseline rallies, with hardly a volley to be seen, played on the original shale courts.

As well as playing tennis, Sheila and Peter, gave a lot of time and effort to support the running and the development of WELTC.  On several occasions Sheila and Peter were the quizmasters at the annual Club Quiz. Sheila has served on both the General Committee and the Management Committee. Her last visit to the Club was to the AGM in 2018 showing continued interest and support to WELTC.
